Uyagaqi from Ottawa
Gayle Uyagaqi Kabloona is Ukkusiksalingmiut and currently lives in Ottawa. Gayle is an interdisciplinary artist and aspiring knitwear designer: her focus is primarily on ceramics, printmaking, and fibre. She learned how to knit from YouTube in 2016 and fell in love with making her own garments while living in Iqaluit, Nunavut. Gayle believes in the healing power and meditative qualities of craft and uses art therapy techniques to teach knitting at the Mamisarvik Healing Centre in Ottawa.

Bara from Kugluktuk
Bara has lived in the small community of Kugluktuk, Nunavut for over thirty years and finds knitting a relaxing activity during the long winter nights. She uses a variety of Nunavut Qiviut yarn depending on the project. Bara finds Nunavut Qivuit yarn both luxurious and soft to knit. She enjoys producing cozy, light and extremely warm items for you or a that special someone. She kindly developed and donated a hat pattern to Nunavut Qiviut. Some examples of Bara's knit work are below.

Bara Donates Nirumiktuq Hat Design for Nunavut Qiviut Knitters
Bara has created and graciously donated this "Checkerboard Warmth" Nirumiktuq hat design. Nirumiktuq means 'soft and warm' in Inuktut. The Qiviut Blend and Arctic Fox Yarn by Nunavut Qiviut that includes superfine merino works well for hats as it has the elasticity required to retain its shape. The qiviut and Arctic fox (or Arctic Hare - you choose!) in this design increases the softness and warmth and develops a soft halo over time. Thank You Bara! We love you!
