Governor General visits Nunavut Qiviut with Nunavut’s Premier
September 3, 2017

On September 2, 2017, Their Excellencies, David Johnston, the Governor General of Canada and his wife Sharon Johnston visited Kugluktuk. The visit was part of the "Canada 150 Coast to Coast to Coast" tour which formed part of the celebrations of Canada's sesquicentennial.  Nunavut's Premier Peter Taptuna provided Their Excellencies a tour of Kugluktuk, which included a stop at our home to see our products, meet our staff, and learn about qiviut.  They showed a keen interest in the project and His Excellency bought Her Excellency a royal purple infinity scarf made of 100% qiviut for their 53rd wedding anniversary.
