Nunavut Qiviut now makes fashionable and functional qiviut hand wear! Keep your hands warm while winter camping, doing photography, or hailing a New Year's Eve taxi!
These stylish qiviut knit gloves are very warm, deliciously thick, substantial, and soft. Featuring a firm double layer wrist ribbing, this qiviut handwear design is made oversized and then shrunk into shape. This gives the fabric an incredibly dense, durable, yet super soft and pliant feel. Special Nunavut Qiviut yarn is custom made for these gloves, and consists of 50% qiviut for softness, 35% superfine merino for stretch, and 15% nylon for strength. They have a double layered and ribbed wrist band to keep your wrists warm and to lock out the snow and cold.
Nunavut Qiviut tested the qiviut gloves in true Nunavut Arctic winter conditions from January-March 2022. At minus 15-20 celsius, with a minus 25-30 celsius windchill, the gloves kept our hands snug and warm. To make them even warmer in more extreme cold temperatures, simply add windproof over-mittens.
There are two sizes: small-medium and medium-large. To estimate your size, you can take two measurements. 1) The circumference of your hand: start between your thumb and forefinger and measure all the way around your hand. 2) The length of your hand: measure from where your wrist meets the base of your hand to the tip of your longest finger.
Small-medium: circumference less than 7 3/4 inches and length less than 6 1/2 inches. Medium-Large: circumference greater than 7 3/4 inches and length greater than 6 1/2 inches.
These gloves are available in the natural qiviut colour, which is a rich warm taupe or light brown. They make amazing gifts and be sure to treat yourself, too!
Nunavut Qiviut products are made from start to finish in Nunavut, Canada and North America.
