Qiviut Toques and Headbands

Nunavut Qiviut makes 3 design options in eight colours for both toques and headbands.  The design options are: Nanuq (Polar Bear), Qilalugaq (Beluga pod), or Umingmaq (Muskox). 

The Nanuq and Qilalugaq design are made with white Arctic Fox lace yarn which is a blend of 30/60/10 Arctic Fox/fine merino/silk.  The body of the toque and headband are made of qiviut lace yarn in a blend of 50/40/10 qiviut/fine merino/silk in one of eight colours of your choice.

The Umingmaq toque and headband is made entirely of qiviut lace yarn in a blend of 50/40/10 qiviut/fine merino/silk. The muskox is the midnight colour in all base colour toques, except for the midnight base colour where the muskox is natural qiviut colour.

The band of all the toques and headbands has two layers of qiviut to provide extra warmth and comfort.

Adult size. One size fits most.  Limited quantities.  

Nunavut Qiviut always recommends having merino in any qiviut toque or headband design.  The merino adds memory to the qiviut to maintain its elasticity and the fit of the headband or hat. The superfine merino complements the softness and warmth of Muskox qiviut and Arctic Fox. Nunavut Qiviut is the only company to make Arctic Fox yarn.

Nunavut Qiviut designs its own Arctic yarns and knit items locally and sustainably. These yarns are hand blended and gently processed. The yarns are available for sale to fibre artists and are used by Nunavut Qiviut to create beautiful and rare knit accessories. Each Toque or Headband is made individually on a hand powered knitting machine.

Care instructions: hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent; squeeze gently to rid excess water; rinse in cold water; rid excess water and then press between a towel, and; lay flat to dry.
